Known for its mountains, clocks, chocolate, cheese, and political neutrality, Switzerland’s picturesque alps are a storybook place to visit. The country has some unique features to it, like the fact that it has three national languages. Depending on the region of Switzerland, tourists will find French, Italian, and German being spoken. Though there is no Swiss language, a dialect of German, called Swiss German, is often spoken by those near the German border.

Zurich, Switzerland's largest city, is also the country's economic and cultural hub; but with all its bustling activity it is still one of the finest Swiss towns, with carefully cherished traditions and much to attract and interest the visitor. Geneva lies in the extreme western tip of Switzerland at the southwest end of Lake Geneva The town is built on moraine hills of varying height on either side of the swiftly flowing RhĂ´ne, which here flows out of the lake and is joined on the southwest side of the town by its tributary the Arve, coming down from the Savoy Alps. The Swiss have always maintained and nurtured their own local customs, and because of this, Switzerland is a country with an enormous wealth of cultural activity and living tradition. No matter whether there is dancing taking place or not, Swiss folk music is mainly dance music.

Switzerland is a land of contrasts. Cities like Lucerne combine modern architecture with a medieval downtown and a 2500 m high mountain is just around the corner. Nevertheless, one may say that those who are looking for music, arts, important historical monuments, museums or shopping will generally find points of interest in major cities while those who want to get more than a glimpse of the alpine scenery are much better served in the alpine resorts. Quality of service and access to modern communication is equally high in both places.
